Why: As a not-for-profit organization, Larimer Humane Society relies on the support of the northern Colorado community to help care for the nearly 12,000 animals that find their way to the shelter each year. Last year, Larimer Humane Society accepted nearly 8,500 furry, scaly, and feathered domestic friends into its facility, and cared for close to 2,500 ill, orphaned and injured wildlife.
Individuals and teams are encouraged to collect pledges prior to and following the event date. Pledge-raising continues through June 30, 2012. “Our online event registration and fundraising site makes it easy for individuals and teams alike to register for the Fire Hydrant 5,” said Kara Pappas, development manager for Larimer Humane Society. “Individuals can design their own fundraising page and email friends and family directly from the registration site to raise pledges, and non-participants can make secure donations to the site in support of the effort.”
A fun array of incentive prizes are awarded to event participants for collecting pledges at various levels. The leading fundraiser will also earn the coveted “Fire Marshal” distinction and lead off the 23rd annual Fire Hydrant 5 in 2013.
The 22nd annual Fire Hydrant 5, 5K Walk/Run and Pet Expo is presented by Poudre Pet & Feed Supply, and is sponsored at the “Golden Retriever” level by the Fort Collins Coloradoan, First National Bank, Dellenbach Subaru, Perfect Square, Klein & Co., Ranch-way Feeds, Water Pik, Mini of Loveland and Tri 102.5, 99.9 the Point, and K99.
