Remember the commercial that featured the groom who interrupted his “I dos” to update his Facebook status? We are seeing the use of more technology emerging in our culture. Despite this, we are seeing some fun throwback trends in wedding colors, dress and design this year in weddings take place on the coasts. What does this mean to you if you’re a Colorado bride planning a wedding in 2011? Perhaps you can take some of these current trends, work them into your wedding, and be ahead of this trend before we see it pop up more in northern Colorado late 2011.  Retro glamor has been seen in weddings along the coasts everything from elegant gowns and art deco color palettes to Rat Pack-style cocktail receptions and engagement jewelry that features old-fashioned diamond cuts, The Knot said in a media release early 2010. As for wedding day accessories, The Knot says the look of the season is “Grace Kelly elegance,” meaning pearls and ladylike gloves will fit right in. Among the additional trends in the retro glamor category are: black and white wedding attire and ball gowns; beauty inspired by the hit show Mad Men, including statement-making hairstyles such as the bouffant or the French twist, plus red lipstick and black eyeliner to match; and stately cakes, from those with towering layers to confections that feature splashes of metallic detail. In addition to the vintage trend, wedding guests in 2010 can expect to find plenty of quirky surprises at the events they attend: interactive elements, such as video announcements and special performances; first dances inspired by TV’s comedy Glee; over-the-top wedding exits; style surprises, such as bright pink shoes peeking from beneath the bride’s dress; and anti-bride details, including non-traditional elements culled from the 80’s fashion revival, such as fingerless gloves and 80’s prom music.
